Text 17 Jan First day of class

7:30 am calculus: fell asleep while sitting in the very front row.  Woke up, then fell asleep again.

Later, in Categorical Analysis, I made myself look like a douche by accident.  Backstory: I took a class by the same name at UW and it used the same book (so I’m really excited to maybe have an easier class for once).  Today, the professor was going over the syllabus and he started talking about the book, and asked if anyone had bought it yet.  He was pretty clearly asking in the context of “so where did you get it/how much was it/were you able to find a used copy/etc.” but my hand automatically went up because, well, I have bought it…so then of course he asked me where and I said “Oh, I actually got it a couple years ago when I was an undergrad at UW.”

Ugh ugh ugh.  Why did I raise my hand and WHY on earth did I throw in the “at UW” part??  I know I usually judge myself too harshly but this is one case where I’m pretty positive that if someone else had said that, I would have thought they were an annoying nerd looking for any excuse to broadcast the fact that they’d used the book before, and where they went for undergrad.  Why must I always be so awkward?  Blerg.
