Talked to my cousin who’s in the same class and he said she mentioned the requirement a few times. So basically I’m just stupid and can’t hear.
It really sucks, but know that you are not alone. This semester, my advisor set me up with a “study buddy” because I was struggling a bit. The first time I met with her, we worked on a take-home exam because I just didn’t hear or understand that it had to be individual work. Seems obvious, but…yeah, that happened. (In my defense, when I did my undergrad sometimes we were allowed to work together on take-homes).
Then I emailed the prof to say “So and so and I are working on the exam and a couple things are unclear” and he was like “…what?” and I had to take a hefty reduction or face a disciplinary committee. So anyway, sometimes no matter how good a student you are, you mishear things that are super important. At least it will probably never happen again.

That’s still annoying, because some people don’t do well with verbal information. It should be on the course materials if it’s that important.

but if it wasn’t in the syllabus, then you still have a case.
